About SCRB
Brief History
On the recommendation of the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau), SCRB was created in the year 1988 in Meghalaya Police Vide Govt Notification No. HPL.24/86/1 10, Dt. 15.9.88. As per the Government Notification Vide No. HPL. 24/86/119 Dt. 29.09.2009, the Superintendent of Police (SCRB), Meghalaya, Shillong is the head of SCRB, Meghalaya, Shillong who is assisted by Non-Gazetted Executive & Ministerial Staff. The main objective for setting up this unit is that it would act as a clearing house of crime and Criminal Information by facilitating amongst the Police Forces of the State/ Union Territory . SCRB therefore acts as the Nodal agency for furnishing of information in connection with various returns, Lok Sabha Question, including the Assembly Question and other returns asked from time to time by Central agencies like CBI, Ministry of Transport, NCRB and the State Government etc.
To solve the IT needs of the districts and co-ordinate with SCRB in all computer related matters, the DCRBx were setup in all the seven districts of Meghalaya vide FM/Ill-78/93 Dt. 31/12/1994. 3(three) SIs (Sub-Inspectors) of Police constitute the staff of DCRBx drawn from the existing staff of SCRB and Computer Wing.
