Details of duty leading to the death of the Martyr -  On 07/03/2004 (Sunday), the said officer went for outing at around 4:30 PM, during Holi Festival, along with his friends viz., Shri Biswajit Choudhary, Sanju Rai, Ashok Ghosh & Minu Bhomick by Local Taxi (ML-05C 7410) driven by Subroto Sharma. The said officer did not turn up till 08/03/2004 & his wife (Smti. Shoma Prasad Purkayashta) lodged an FIR at Lumdiengjri PS on 09/03/2004 @ 9:00 am stating that she learnt from his friends that on 07/03/2004 @ 7:30 PM he was abducted by some unknown persons from 3rd Mile Upper Shillong. In this connection, a case was registered in Lumdiengjr PS and investigated into. Later, his decomposed dead body was recovered from the streamlet at 3rd Mile Upper Shillong on 12/03/2004. A murder case was charge-sheeted on 30/11/2004 against the accd. Viz., Roshan Kharthangmaw, Bikash Kharthangmaw, Shivnath Rai & Bharat Thapa. The case is still under trial at the Court.
