Details of duty leading to the death of the Martyr - On 04/03/1999, he was detailed for Special duty at Mawlai Phudmawrie for collecting the information about the militants. While on duty, he was fired upon by the suspected H.N.L.C. militants with sophisticated weapons. As a result of which, he sustained bullet injuries on his person and while on way to the Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment, he succumbed to his injuries.
