Details of duty leading to the death of the Martyr - On 21/01/1995 at around 1:00 Pm, while the Police party were escorting the remittance from Shillong SBI Main Branch to Mawlai NEHU, SBI Branch, some unknown militants armed with sophisticated weapons suspected to be H.N.L.C. ambushed the Police party travelling in the vehicle on the way to NEHU by firing at them with the sophisticated weapons. As a result of which LNK/912 Kudoi Thakur sustained injuries on his person and died on the spot.
