Details of duty leading to the death of the Martyr - On 18.11.2014 at around 12:30 PM Police personnel of South Garo Hills DEF and 3rd MLP Bn. Camp at Baghmara Police Station were proceeding to Siju in a 3 (three) vehicles to enhance the strength of Siju C.P. On reaching Siju Forest Reserve, the suspected GNLA militants detonated two powerful I.E.D after synchronizing the movement of last Police Van and opened indiscriminate fire on Police Convoy. As a result 2 (two) Police personnel viz., (i) ABC/128 Aithom Sangma and (ii) BN Hav. Eldrin Lyngdoh were killed at the spot.
