Details of duty leading to the death of the Martyr - On 09/09/2002 at around 01:00 PM Dy SP (Hqrs) Pechon Agitok Sangma, MPS of SGH DEF along with 5 (five) constables, 3(three) from 3rd MLP BN (IRBN) namely (i) BNC/215 Benosik Nongsiej, (ii) BNC/98 Sahimson P. Marak and (iii) BNC/184 Ripingstone L. Kynshi were ambushed by suspected ANVC Militants by firing indiscriminately from automatic weapons and hurled Grenades at Chokpot Bibragre. As a result Pechon Agitok Sangma, MPS, Dy SP (Hqrs) and 3(three) IRBN personnel received bullet injuries and succumbed to their injuries at the spot.
