Details of duty leading to the death of the Martyr - On 6th February 1997 BN Constable Tripad Sangma was deputed to Mawlai PS for Law and Order duty from 20:00 hrs to 08:00 hrs along with No. 9 Platoon of 1st Battalion Meghalaya Police. On execution of Law and Order duty one unknown truck knocked him down at Mawlai, G.S. Road and fled away. As a result of which he sustained serious injuries on his person and removed to Civil Hospital, Shillong for immediate treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on 7th February, 1997 at 8:00 AM.
