Details of duty leading to the death of the Martyr - On 17/07/1999, he was detailed for Special Operation duty along with other police personnel at Ryngdem village, West Khasi Hills, Nongstain under Shallang OP. While the operation party were on their way, some unknown militants suspected to be A.N.V.C., armed with sophisticated weapons, ambushed the Police party and opened firing at them. As a result of which, he sustained bullet injuries on his person and died on the spot in the line of his lawful duty.
