Details of duty leading to the death of the Martyr - On 01.02.1996, he was detailed for remittance duty along with other Police Personnel from State Bank of India, Main Branch, Shillong to Ganesh Das Hospital, Lawmali, Shillong. While the police party was reaching near Lawmali, Ganesh Das, some unknown militants suspected to be H.N.L.C, with sophisticated weapons started firing at the police escort party. As a result of which, he sustained bullet injuries on his person and died on the spot in the line of his lawful duty.
