Case Inventory Database Application was launched on 30th July, 2021 by Shri. R. Chandranathan IPS, Director General of Police, Meghalaya in presence of senior police officials from Conference Hall, Police Head Quarters, Shillong. The application will be exclusively for the purpose of supervising and monitoring of criminal cases registered throughout the State.
The Meghalaya Forensic Science Laboratory Service Rules, 2021 was notified by the Government of Meghalaya vide HPL.122/2019/52 Dated Shillong the 2nd July, 2021 regulating the recruitment and the condition of service of persons appointed to the Meghalaya Forensic Laboratory Service.
Megahalaya Police launched the COVID-19 Management Portal on 21st May, 2021 to monitor the number of COVID-19 positive officials of the Department including high risk contact officials. The portal will enable senior police officials of every District/Organisation to monitor the health and status of police officials and to also have a real time information of police officials who are currently undergoing institutional quarantine/home isolation or have recovered/been discharged from hospitals.
Crime Branch Police Station, Western Range was sanctioned by the Government of Meghalaya vide HPL.8/2021/11 Dated, Shillong the 20th May, 2021 for dealing with investigation of cases registered under various Police Stations within Western range of the State.
e-Challan - A Digital Traffic Solution was launched on 2nd March, 2021 to streamline the traffic enforcement system within Shillong city. Shri. Lahkmen Rymbui, Hon'ble Home Minister launched the 'e-Challan, A Digital Traffic Solution' in the presence of Sh. R. Chandranathan, IPS, DGP and other senior officials at PHQ.
Drone Control Room at SP-Office Tura was inaugurated on 10th February, 2021 by Shri R. Chandranathan, IPS, DGP in presence of seniors officers of Western Range
Fire & Emergency Service Training School at Mairang in West Khasi Hills has been set up vide HPL.121/2019/13 Dated 4th June 2019 for imparting training to new recruits as well as in-service officials of the Fire & Emergency Service of the State. It was inaugurated on 2nd Feb, 2021 by Shri. Metbah Lyngdoh, Hon’ble Speaker, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in the presence of Shri. Lahkmen Rymbui, Hon’ble Home Minister and Shri. R. Chandranathan, IPS Director General of Police and other Government officials.
National Emergency Response System (NERS)/ Emergency Response Support (ERSS) / Dial 112 in the State of Meghalaya has started functioning w.e.f 8th Jaunaury, 2021 from the top floor of Sadar Police Station Complex, Shillong. Since the project has started functioning, all distress calls namely, 100, 101, 1091 and 1098 are landed in the PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) site and the same calls are being forwarded by the supervisor of PSAP to the respective thanas/108 according to the need and location of the distressed caller for taking necessary action.
Crime Branch Police Station, Eastern Range was setup at East Khasi Hills vide HPL.178/2020/3 Dated, Shillong the 4th November, 2020 for dealing with investigation of cases registered under various Police Stations within Eastern range of the State.
Drone Control Center at Mawlai Police was inaugurated on 12th June, 2020 by Shri. R. Chandranathan, IPS, DGP, in presence of Madam I. Nongrang, IPS ADG, Shri. H. Nongpluh, IPS ADG and other officers of the department.
Video Conference system was setup at Police Head Quarters and other districts/units of Meghalaya Police from 4th May, 2020 onwards. During the pandemic, Video Conference has been really helpful in effective communication among the various districts/units/organisation of Meghalaya Police.
COVID-19 Fake News Verification portal was made operational on 4th April, 2020 to verify Fake News which are being circulated in social media and other platforms. Since the activation of the portal circulation of fake news have subsided as the department have been issuing clarification from time to time debunking misinformation and disinformation
Tourist Police was initiated on a pilot project basis in three districts of Meghalaya namely East Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills and West Garo Hills vide HPL.170/2011/213 Dated Shillong, the 15th July, 2019 in the following tourist destinations namely Mawkdok, Elephant Falls, Wards Lake, Dawki, Shnongpdeng, Syntu Ksiar, Dachi Lake and Pelga falls. The main functions of the Tourist Police is to provide safety and security of the Tourists and to prevent the tourist from encountering any ontoward incident, avert harassment from touts, loss of property from pickpockets, and assisting the tourist in any manner.
Mawkynroh-Umshing Police Out-Post was created vide No. HPL.146/2005/154 Dated 16th August 2020, the Out-Post falls under the jurisdiction of Mawlai Police Station and is currently functioning from within the NEHU Campus in Mawlai. It was inaugurated by Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri. Conrad K. Sangma, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Shri. Prestone Tynsong and other dignitaries.
Fourteen 'First Responder' Bikers of Shillong Traffic Police were flagged off by Hon' CM on 17th August, 2019. They are trained in a multi tasking manner to mitigate the Traffic Problems for Emergencies, including medical assistance and minimizing the "Golden Hour" of traffic accident Victims.
